What are organic supplements?

Organic food supplements are non-synthetic products, which are produced from organically grown fruits and vegetables. They are not processed or synthesized and they have had no chemical compounds (including additives) inserted into their plants at any point – even at the time of harvesting.

Given the realities of modern-day life, organic food supplements are often as close as many people today can get to enjoying the benefits of home-grown, fresh produce. Previously, the vast majority of agriculture may have been described as “organic”; it was only during the 20th century that there was a huge supply of new, synthetic chemicals introduced to the food supply.

No longer are most of people raising their own farm animals for their source of protein. Organic food supplements are intended to be the next best thing. That means that when you consume them, they are meant to mimic how you would usually get the most out the food you are eating.

Benefits of organic food supplements

Unprocessed, unadulterated food is what our bodies were designed to eat. Our bodies were not intended to absorb synthetic vitamins or chemically polluted food.

Organic supplements are now widely available for a vast variety of conditions and health goals. E.g., for general health and well-being or for more specific reasons, such as supporting the immune system or helping to alleviate the symptoms of a particular condition. One of their many advantages is that they are slow-release.

They are easier for the body to absorb totally – a large proportion of a synthetic supplement will simply pass through the body by urination, without any gain to the body. For example, a lot of the Vitamin C sold is ascorbic acid. This is a man-made chemical, which is manufactured in chemical plants by applying heat and pressure and additional chemicals to glucose (sugar), which converts the glucose to ascorbic acid. Being a chemical (and an acid), it is not used by the body the same way as food and can often upset the stomach and irritate the digestive tract, and even worsen medical conditions, as a result.

Health supplements that are organic and natural typically have a higher content of vitamins and minerals and contain lower levels of toxic metals (including mercury, lead, and aluminium) than their non-organic counterparts.
