 You can slowly soak flowerbeds with exclusively designed water hoses.   Try not to water the flowers too much overhead for it makes the plants droop.   Spray the water very gently using a water hose with a wide nozzle for all the flowers in containers and plants in hanging baskets.   Water do not evaporate that much in plastic flower containers, use it rather than those terra cotta pots.   One inch of water per week, should be enough for your lawn.   If you notice runoff, stop irrigating your lawn and wait till that water is absorbed before turning on your sprinklers again.
