Many people want to know what the difference is between spread betting and online poker. A lot of people think that both of these are gambling. Spread betting is not gambling some say. Online poker is betting and spread betting is also betting, it has betting in it’s name for god sake. Betting = gambling, and both of them are gambling? Don’t see any thing we can argue about on that.

In spread betting you bet in the price of an asset to either go up or down. If you bet on the price to go down and it goes down within the time period you selected then you win or else you lose. This is probably more risky than online poker because you normally bet a lot of money while spread betting. But in online poker you only need to play if you want to or if you have good cards, if you don’t then you can fold and wait for the next round. In Online poker you have choices whether to bet or not but in spread betting you have to bet there is no option.

Online poker can also be played for fun activities whereas spread betting is some serious business. Poker can be played in parties or with friends anywhere you want but in spread betting you will be competing against big businesses or individuals who have been in spread betting for many years.

I have gambled using both these methods but online poker was more fun than spread betting. I am a regular online poker player in party poker and Everest poker sites. I enjoy chatting to few people from different countries within my industry and learn about their culture while playing poker but I am not addicted to poker. I had a spread betting fever 18 months ago, I won big first few bets but then I lost quite a few too then I thought this is not for me, because I didn’t enjoy it at all.
